INTENSIVE CARE FOR SKIN AND SPIRIT

KNOW YOUR SKIN TYPE

It’s clear, if you want to effectively clean and care for your skin, you should know your skin type. Here is a very simple method for figuring out what type you are. Wash your face with a mild cleansing product, dry your skin thoroughly and don’t use a toner or skin cream. Wait about two hours and then look in the mirror. If the skin on your face is totally shiny, you most likely have oily skin. If the oily shine appears only in the middle of your face, the so-called T-Zone (forehead, nose and chin), you have combination skin. Normal skin feels relaxed and smooth, looks rosy (but not reddened) and has a very light, matt radiance. If the skin is tight and appears to be crying out for cream, it is dry. Sensitive skin reveals itself with redness directly after washing and drying, later it may itch or feel prickly or uncomfortably warm.

A CLEAN START

Correct skin care starts with careful cleansing. It’s only when oil, loose skin cells and fine dirt particles are removed from the skin that it’s ready for nourishing moisturisers. Gentle Cleansing Cream Wash from NIVEA VISAGE Sensitive range can be used to gently cleanse any skin type. Dry skin or sensitive skin feels particularly relaxed after cleansing with Sensitive Calming Cleansing Milk or Gentle Cleansing Lotion. Normal and combination skin gets a feel-good clean from Refreshing Facial Wash. Purifying Facial Wash Gel deeply cleanses and purifies oily skin. It also contains Active Shine Regulator to reduce excess oil and prevent shine as well as micro-scrubs to deeply cleanse, removing all traces of dirt and skin impurities. In addition, sometimes skin can even react sensitively to tap water, especially to water with a high calcium content (hard water). If you experience redness or itching after cleansing with clear water, you should switch to cleansing without water for a while. A mild cleansing milk is suitable for this; simply remove it from your face using cotton pads or cleansing cloths only.

PORE DEEP PURITY

Now we come to the second step of pore-deep skin cleansing. Toner removes final impurities as well as any remaining cleansing product. Depending on the ingredients, toners can stimulate the pores, calm or refresh your skin and even absorb excess skin oils. Remember your eye make-up in the evening. It must be removed before going to bed (for example, with NIVEA VISAGE Extra Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover), otherwise irritation may occur in the sensitive eye area or the lashes could break. In the next edition of this series we will discuss how to find the perfect moisturiser to suit your skin.
