Night skin care routine to regenerate your skin

Restoration for your skin
“Sleep is the best medicine,” as the old saying goes – and this is true for stressed skin, too. By getting enough sleep you will support the regeneration of your skin and ensure you have a radiant complexion.

When we go to bed, our skin gets active

Getting enough sleep not only ensures we are mentally alert but also that our skin cells are also wide-awake. When we sleep, our body starts to activate its various regeneration programmes. Treat it to these hours of calm – you will be rewarded with healthy, restored skin!

Full speed ahead for cell regeneration

The night is a magical time. As soon as we close our eyes, lots of exciting things start to happen. While we sleep, our cells regenerate faster than when we are awake and our whole body rests. This is because the hormones that control our metabolism redistribute themselves and this is very important for our skin.

Our body only produces the sleep hormone melatonin at night. It not only ensures you sleep healthily: its anti-oxidative effect irons out skin damage and has a positive influence on the cells’ ageing process.

Beautiful scents cause sweet dreams

Did you know that your nose never sleeps? Even when you are slumbering deeply, your nose is still awake. And that’s not all: it also influences our dreams. Researchers at the University of Bochum conducted an experiment that proved that smells can direct our dreams. They held different aromas under the noses of sleeping test candidates. The result: the scent of orange produces sweet dreams and smells considered to be unpleasant produced the opposite. So, make sure you have beautiful scents in your bedroom. It’s worth it!

Care around the clock

Day and night are like yin and yang: the exact opposites and yet the perfect complement. Your skin has a 24-hour rhythm, too. Arrange your day and night skin care routines to coordinate with it.

During the day, your skin needs protecting; at night, it needs to regenerate

Your skin has its own day and night biorhythm. During the day, it needs protection and hydration; at night, it needs support for its natural regeneration process. Day and night creams should therefore be tailored perfectly with one another. Because the skin is working flat out to regenerate itself at night, night creams are more moisturising and particularly rich in active ingredients. In contrast to day creams, night creams do not contain a sun protection factor. This is why you shouldn’t use a day cream at night as a sun protection factor is superfluous at night. Always apply your night cream as carefully and precisely as your day cream. Find out more about the best day care routine.
