Packaging with
PURPOSE
Summary
Packaging is being redesigned to be lighter, refillable, and recyclable – because reducing waste starts with smarter design that fits easily into your everyday routine.
Why responsible
packaging matters

Our responsibility doesn’t end at the shelf – and neither does yours. By increasing the use of recyclable, refillable and reusable packaging, we’re working to help reduce environmental impact and use resources more consciously together with you.
Our
Commitments

What we are
DOING
We design with circularity in mind – prioritising materials that can stay in the loop and make it easier for you to reuse or recycle them.
Recycled & responsibly
sourced materials

Our new facial cleansing oil bottle contains 25% recycled PET (excluding the pump)
All palm (kernel) oil used in our products has been 100% sustainably sourced since 2020
All folding boxes have been FSC‑certified since 2019
We aim to source all renewable ingredients sustainably and ensure deforestation‑free supply chains by 2025
Phasing out
microplastics

Plastic pollution isn’t just about packaging – it’s also about what goes down your drain. Since 2015, all NIVEA formulas have been free from microbeads, and since 2019, all rinse‑off products have been microplastic‑free. We’re phasing out all remaining microplastics across our portfolio and have committed to eliminating nylon in leave‑on formulas as well, so you can feel even better about the products you use every day.
What’s
NEXT
Reducing plastic waste requires innovation, transparency and collaboration. From refillable formats to circular packaging pilots, we’re testing new solutions every day – and making it simpler for you to choose more sustainable options.
