Disappointing Version
I am severely disappointed with the reformulation of NIVEA Face Wash Gel. The new version, replacing the original Lotus Flower and Vitamin E formula with Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Vera is completely substandard and unfit for purpose. As the saying goes, "if it’s not broke, don’t fix it." I have been a longstanding user of the original Lotus Flower face wash, it was my absolute holy grail product. It was beautifully non-drying on my skin and removed makeup flawlessly without any irritation. Upon reviewing the new ingredients list, it is clear why the product’s performance has collapsed: 1. Failure to Remove Makeup: The original formula utilised an effective surfactant system that effortlessly melted away makeup. The new formulation relies on a much weaker surfactant blend (Coco-Glucoside and Coco-Betaine) that fails to break down everyday cosmetics, leaving foundation on my face. 2. Drying Effect: The original version used hydrating solvents like Propylene Glycol, leaving my skin soft. The new formula introduces Alcohol Denat high up on the ingredient list. This drying alcohol strips skin, leaving my face feeling dry and tight. It is deeply ironic that a product marketed with hyaluronic acid for hydration actually dries the skin out due to this alcohol base. 3. Odour: The new Parfum composition creates a lingering odour that I absolutely despise. By forcing this new version onto consumers, Nivea has ruined a perfect staple product. I am now forced to end my loyalty to NIVEA and look to alternative brands for a daily face-wash that actually works. I am sure this face wash is also effecting my eyesight. Even though my eyes are closed whilst using this, my eyesight has deteriorated since I got the new version. Do not bother with this if like me you had high hopes of it being anything like the original or better, it most certainly is not.
