INGREDIENTS & FORMULATIONS
We want your skin to feel happy and healthy. As it connects you directly to nature, we're committed to making sure that our product formulations help your skin to thrive in a happy and healthy environment.
Discover how we're developing sustainable skincare by using ingredients of natural origin and biodegradable raw materials that are sourced responsibly, so you can care for your skin and the planet at the same time.

Sourcing ingredients from natural material is an important step away from a fossil-based economy. While we aim to increase the amount of naturally derived skincare ingredients within our product formulas, we carefully evaluate their skincare performance, as well as their environmental impact, so you can enjoy effective care with a clear conscience.

Microplastics are a source of both soil and marine pollution around the world. As a leading skincare brand, we took action early on to stop using microplastics in our rinse-off products and eliminated microplastics in all our NIVEA products worldwide by the end of 2021.

Due to its unique properties, palm (kernel) oil is a commonly used ingredient in skincare formulas. The main issue with palm oil is that large areas of rainforest are often destroyed to make room for oil palm plantations. At NIVEA, we're convinced that palm (kernel) oil must be obtained sustainably to protect rainforests from deforestation and to support more responsible everyday skincare choices for you.
At NIVEA, we strive to develop products that consider skin safety, the environment, and your high skincare expectations. To be transparent about our formulas and make it easier for you to choose sustainable skincare products, NIVEA provides simple yet detailed information on the nearly 600 ingredients we use.

One Skin. One Planet. One Care.
