stubble
Let’s face it, there are lots of ways you can wear your facial hair. You might like a slick, cleanly shaven face, or crave that classic 5 o’clock shadow. Or maybe you just want to know how to maintain stubble or how to trim a 3-day beard so it really suits you.
If you’re considering the 3-day stubble beard but aren’t sure it’s the look for you, don’t worry. NIVEA MEN is here to help you decide and give you friendly advice on how to get stubble while still looking after your skin properly.
The what, why and…
How to get stubble
Skip shaving, dodge stubble rash and get your favourite stubble styles on point.
The benefits of having a bit of facial hair go far beyond just how it looks. If your skin reacts harshly to razor blade shaving, or you’re prone to sensitive skin, then shaving less often (and more gently when you do) might make you choose a stubble beard instead.
By swapping the razor altogether for a stubble trimmer, there’s a good chance that both razor burn and painful ingrown hairs will become problems of the past.
A well-maintained stubble beard can also make your face look more symmetrical and give you a bit of extra coverage for small facial imperfections.

Keep it
clean
Leaving a clean‑shaven face behind doesn’t mean you can ignore your skincare when you’re thinking about how to get stubble.
Stubble rash and flaky skin under your stubble can still show up. That’s why, after using a beard trimmer, NIVEA recommends applying NIVEA MEN SENSITIVE PRO Ultra-Calming Facial Balm to soothe your skin. By treating your skin with calming hemp and Vitamin E, once you’ve got your new stubble design nailed, you’ll take the way it feels to another level.

The 3-day
beard

Stubble isn’t for everyone, so if you’d like more facial hair ideas, including beard growth, head over to our how to grow a beard guide.
If you do choose stubble, growing a 3-day beard lets you try out your new style over the weekend, away from work colleagues and in your own space. You could start on Friday and, if by Sunday it’s not for you, simply bring back the razor.
No matter the length, stubble needs maintenance too. Make sure you moisturise underneath your beard with a good NIVEA MEN moisturiser, so your skin doesn’t dry out underneath.
Plus, it always looks great to have a clean 3-day beard, so finding a male stubble design you like, doing regular trimming and touch‑ups, or simply plucking out loose hairs can help you look clean and fresh.

The 3-day beard can be especially flattering for more angular faces, helping to create a slimmer, more rounded profile.

Keep it
tidy
Select a guard for your trimmer, again between 2–3 mm, and run the clippers over your face and neck. You’ll then want to remove the guard to clean up the edges around your lips, below your nose and along your neckline, being careful to cut off any fly‑aways.
If your stubble grows high up your cheeks and far down your neck, you’ll want to define the neckline and cheeks a bit more. Avoid shaping your stubble into harsh, straight lines so you keep that natural stubble look.
Now you can sit back and enjoy a clean and fresh look.
You’re not done yet
Yes, you’ve got a bit of a beard going, but just like a shaven face, it looks best when it’s kept clean. To keep it looking fresh, simply lather up your stubble with NIVEA MEN SENSITIVE PRO MENMALIST FACE & BEARD WASH and apply an intensive moisturising cream after drying to rehydrate your skin and relieve beard itch by softening up your whiskers.
