Do face
EXERCISES WORK?
As we age, so does our skin – your face can lose firmness and start to sag. But your face contains over 50 different muscles and, unlike most of the rest of the body, a lot of these facial muscles are rarely used.
So do face exercises work? By carrying out regular facial exercises, you can work these muscles to improve blood circulation to the different areas of the face, replenishing the oxygen supply in the muscles and the skin. This will result in a bright complexion and a beautiful, healthy glow, as well as alleviating skin tightening and sagging.
Doing face thinning and toning exercise routines frequently will help keep your face looking fit in the long term. Furthermore, regular facial muscle exercises improve blood flow to the face and supply your skin cells with nutrients, leading to a stimulation of skin cell regeneration and wrinkle prevention.
"We recommend following a face workout routine regularly for the best results."

How often should you
PERFORM FACIAL EXERCISES?

Facial exercises are a great way to keep your face looking and feeling young and fresh. Your face is made up of over 50 muscles and, just like any muscles, these get stronger the more you use them. What’s more, this kind of regular exercise can stimulate the flow of new blood to the face, which can be replenished. Here are some of the benefits of facial exercises:
- Strengthens the muscles in your face.
- Reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
- Increases blood circulation to facial muscles.
- Releases any tension in the face and neck.
- Firms and tightens the facial skin.

Different facial exercises to
ENHANCE YOUR COMPLEXION

1. Lift the folds around your nose
Smile as widely as you can and press your fingertips into the folds between your nose and lips. Lift up the muscles whilst pressing down your fingertips into the muscles for resistance. This will strengthen your cheek muscles to give you plump, round cheeks – a classic sign of youth.
2. Tighten a sagging neck
Your neck is often one of the first places to show signs of ageing. Use these facial exercises for your jowl and neck area. Simply press the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Then look upwards with your chin to the ceiling, smile and swallow. Continue doing this for 30–60 seconds.
3. Smooth out your forehead
To tighten forehead skin, first frown as hard as you can, attempting to bring your eyebrows over your eyes and closer together. Then do the opposite and lift your eyebrows as high as possible, opening your eyes widely. Repeat these movements five times.
4. Work the muscles around your mouth
Sit down and tilt your head backwards. Tightly pucker your lips and push them forward. Hold for 8–10 seconds and repeat five times for a toned lip area.
5. For lifted cheek muscles
Close your lips and gently smile, before sucking your cheeks in as far as you can. Hold this position for 8–10 seconds before releasing and repeat this exercise five times.

Tips for doing facial exercises
THE RIGHT WAY
Performing facial exercises lying down is the most effective approach.
- Make sure your hands are clean before touching your face.
- Try to do your face workouts at the same time every day so you don’t forget and you start to develop a routine.
- Never pull or tug on your skin aggressively – this may accentuate wrinkles.
- Combine facial exercises with cardiovascular exercise to give your complexion the best possible boost.

Do facial yoga exercises
ACTUALLY WORK?
Facial yoga exercises are particularly good for face tightening and for rejuvenating areas of your face that are susceptible to early signs of ageing, such as your eyes, forehead and cheeks. If you can, squeeze in 15–20 minutes of facial yoga a day to notice the difference and enjoy a subtle younger look.
Facial yoga
BENEFITS

1. Improved confidence
The appearance of wrinkles and the signs of ageing can have a negative effect on a person’s confidence, even though this is a beautiful and natural process. By tightening the skin, facial yoga and face workouts can help to combat the moment when the signs of ageing start to show. Face exercises for women especially can help to boost confidence, because often when you like how you look, you also feel good.
2. Natural face lift
A face lift is a face tightening cosmetic procedure that helps the skin to appear younger. Facial yoga is a natural alternative to this. Face exercises help to tighten the muscles in your face, which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles – creating a firmer, tighter-looking appearance.
3. Less expensive than cosmetic procedures
Cosmetic procedures that help with facial skin tightening can be very expensive and invasive – but facial yoga costs nothing. Although results are not as instant as cosmetic surgery, face yoga will save you a lot of money and time.
4. Overall wellbeing
Just like traditional yoga, facial yoga can be very soothing, therapeutic and calming. By reducing stress and improving self-esteem, face yoga exercises can have wonderful results on both your overall physical and mental wellbeing.
5 facial exercises to
TARGET THE EYE AREA
1. Combat fine lines under the eyes
Partially wink with just one eye, keeping the other open. Hold this position for one second whilst ensuring that you’re contracting all the muscles around the eye. Then release and repeat 20–25 times.
2. Banish crow’s feet
This exercise is perfect for reducing the appearance of fine lines in the corners of the eyes. First, relax your face, then keep your eyes open and lift your lower eyelids without moving the upper ones. Hold for 1–2 seconds before releasing and repeating 20–25 times.

3. Stimulate blood circulation
Place your three middle fingers underneath each eye and gently pull downwards to open each eye further. As you do this, try to close your eyes, working all the muscles around them. Hold for a period of 8–10 seconds before releasing and repeating five times.
4. Upper eyelid work-out
Start by using your fingertips to gently lift your eyebrows upwards and outwards. Then use your muscles to try and counteract this movement by pushing your brows back down, holding for 8–10 seconds. Repeat this exercise five times for a natural brow lift.
5. Prevent wrinkles from forming
Press two fingers on each of your temples and rapidly open and close your eyelids in a blinking motion for a period of 8–10 seconds. Rest and repeat this five times.
