skincare?

These ingredients directly target a skin concern (wrinkles, dark spot, acne, sensitivity etc.). 

Examples:

• Niacinamide – helps to even skin tone, support the skin barrier and reduce the appearance of pores.
• Salicylic Acid – exfoliating BHA that helps unclog pores and reduce blemishes.
• Lactic Acid – gentle AHA exfoliant that improves skin texture and radiance.
• Hyaluronic Acid / Sodium Hyaluronate – binds water and helps plump the skin with moisture.
• Retinol – Vitamin A derivative that supports skin renewal and reduces the look of wrinkles.
• Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) – antioxidant that helps protect against free radicals and brightens the complexion.
• Panthenol – Pro-Vitamin B5 that soothes and hydrates the skin.

Emollients soften and smooth the skin by filling in microscopic gaps in the outer layer.

Examples:

• Butyrospermum Parkii Butter (Shea Butter) – rich plant butter that nourishes and smooths dry skin.
• Squalane – skin-compatible lipid that helps to soften and support the skin barrier.
• Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride – lightweight oil that leaves skin feeling silky and conditioned.
• Cetearyl Alcohol – fatty alcohol that improves texture and adds softness (not a drying alcohol).
• Isopropyl Palmitate – oil-like emollient that enhances spreadability and suppleness.

Emulsifiers keep oil and water nicely blended so the texture stays smooth and stable.

Examples:

• Glyceryl Stearate – helps oil and water mix and gives creams a smooth texture.
• PEG-100 Stearate – supports stable, even emulsions in creams and lotions.
• Ceteareth-20 – helps disperse oil in water-based formulas.
• Polysorbate 20 – stabilises formulas and improves texture.
• Lecithin – phospholipid-based emulsifier derived from plant or egg sources.

Color pigments add or correct colour in tinted skincare, make-up or sun care.

Examples:

• Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891) – white pigment used for coverage and, in sunscreens, for UV protection.
• Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499) – red, yellow and black pigments used to create natural skin tones.
• Mica – gives a luminous or shimmering effect.
• Ultramarines (CI 77007) – blue pigment used to adjust colour tones.

Film Formers create a thin, flexible layer on the skin to improve wear, hold or water-resistance.

Examples:

• Acrylates Copolymer – forms a flexible film for long-lasting wear or water-resistance.
• PVP – polymer that helps hold pigments or filters in place on the skin.
• VP/Hexadecene Copolymer – improves adherence and wear of the formula.
• Polyquaternium-10 – forms a conditioning film, especially in hair and body care.

Fragrances give the product its characteristic scent and support the sensory experience.

Examples:

• Parfum – umbrella term for a fragrance composition.
• Limonene – citrus-like scent component.
• Linalool – floral, slightly spicy note.
• Citronellol – fresh, rosy note.
• Geraniol – rosy, floral note.
