How To Use Lip Scrub

Lip scrub is a subtle, but crucial part of your routine. Here is all the information you need to know about lip scrubs, why they’re important and how to use them.

HOW TO USE LIP SCRUB

Most people are familiar with body scrubs and face scrubs but are unfamiliar with lip scrubs. These products exfoliate your skin and help it to look smooth and vibrant - and it’s the same for your lips! Learning how to use lip scrub will improve the appearance of your lips. DIY lip scrubs can also be as effective at exfoliating your lips, but don’t worry, we’ve provided you with some home remedies.

What is lip scrub?

Lip scrubs are important in preventing dry, chapped lips. They are often made up of two components: an exfoliant and an emollient. The exfoliant (often sugar) helps to gently remove dead skin cells from your lips, improving the health and appearance of your skin. The emollient component helps to hydrate your lips, which is what creates the radiant appearance. DIY lip scrubs are easy to make and we’ll provide you with the information you need on how to make lip scrub. Although, if you don’t have time to make your own, we’ve got you covered. Check out NIVEA Lip 2 in 1 Caring Scrub with Rosehip Oil  for an exfoliating and moisturising lip scrub.

So now that we understand what lip scrub is, what are the benefits?

What are the benefits of lip scrub?

Whether you're an avid make-up user or not, knowing how to use lip scrub provides a range of benefits.
Easier to apply makeup
If you’re a make-up lover, you’ll know that smooth application is key for even lipstick. If your lips are cracked or dry, your lipstick never looks as good. Even hydrated lips can be bumpy and make lipstick application harder. However, using lip scrub can solve this. Lip scrub creates soft, smooth lips, which are the perfect base for applying lipstick. With a smoother base, lipstick will look better, for longer.

Comfortable lips
Whether you're out and about or watching a film, we all know how horrible it is to have dry, uncomfortable lips. Exfoliated skin is better at absorbing moisture, and this is the same for your lips. Knowing how to use lip scrub will allow your lips to lock in more moisture. As a result, your lips will feel more comfortable. You’ll no longer need to rely on lip balms.

Lipstick removal
Lip scrubs are also very useful in removing stubborn lipstick. The exfoliant component helps to scrub off the hard-to-remove make-up, whilst exfoliating at the same time!

How to use lip scrub

1) Your first step of learning how to use lip scrub is to identify which lip scrub you are going to use. This can be a DIY lip scrub or, if you don’t have the time to make your own, have a look at NIVEA 2 in 1 Caring Scrub with Aloe Vera. Once you’ve got your scrub, it's time for application.

2) Before you apply your lip scrub, be sure to wet your lips. This will avoid any painful friction. Now, use your fingertip to apply a reasonable amount and rub the product into your lips using a small, circular motion. A toothbrush can also be used if strong exfoliation is needed. Be sure to do this carefully and know how to exfoliate first.

3) Now it's time for removal, for which there are two options. Option one is to use a damp cloth to gently remove the lip scrub from your lips. Or, more excitingly, you can choose to lick the scrub off of your lips and enjoy the taste!

4) The final step of learning how to use lip scrub is to apply a moisturising lip balm to keep your exfoliated lips hydrated. NIVEA Hydro Care Caring Lip Balm, enriched with organic Jojoba Oil, is a great option for long lasting moisture.
