How To Get Dewy Skin

Attaining dewy skin is a process and not something that can be achieved overnight. But don’t worry, we’ve highlighted our six top tips for how to get dewy skin, as well as dewy skin products.

How To Get Dewy Skin

1) Cleanse & Exfoliate

Cleansing and exfoliating your skin is key when going for the dewy skin look. A build-up of dirt and dead skin cells can make your skin look dull and grey - whereas cleansing and exfoliating helps to remove these impurities and create a radiant and glowing appearance. But be careful, knowing how to exfoliate is important: over-exfoliating can cause your skin to become dry and damaged.

Try our NIVEA Radiance Face Cleansing Bar, with rose extract and vitamin E, to gently cleanse your skin while strengthening its barrier for a supple and smooth feel. On top of that, our 99% natural origin formula is perfect for all types of skin.

2) Vitamin C Is Your Best Friend

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, protecting your skin from damaging free radicals and helping to reduce inflammation, which in turn helps to boost healthy-looking skin. More importantly, vitamin C promotes cell turnover. This helps to energise your skin, as well as reduce signs of tiredness and dullness - perfect for glowing, dewy skin!

Dewy skin products with vitamin C are a great addition to your skincare routine. Try our NIVEA Q10 Energy Healthy Glow Day Cream, to invigorate your skin and help to create that perfect dewy skin appearance.

3) Stay Safe In The Sun

To manage and sustain dewy skin, you must protect it from damaging UV rays. These UV rays can dry out your skin as well as trigger the early signs of aging, which is the last thing you want when maintaining dewy skin. We recommend avoiding over-exposure to the sun and finding the right sunscreen for your skin.

For a face sun cream that soothes your skin and offers highly effective sun protection, try our NIVEA UV Face Soothing Sensitive Sun Cream SPF50+. The delicate, unperfumed formula is perfect for sensitive skin.

4) Use A Toner

If you are too harsh when exfoliating, you can strip your skin of its natural oils and cause it to become dry and sensitive - which is not what you want when aiming for dewy skin. To combat this, one of the best dewy skin products is a toner. Toners help to revitalise the skin once it's been exfoliated, adding back all the important minerals that may have been stripped. Once you start to add a toner into your routine, you’ll have glowing, dewy skin in no time!

For radiant dewy skin, try our NIVEA Rose Water 2-In-1 Cleanser & Toner, made with delicate rose water to soothe the skin and retain its natural moisture balance. The handy 2-in-1 action makes it quicker and easier than ever to rejuvenate your skin.

5) Stay Hydrated

Hydrated skin is the foundation for solving any skin concerns or desires. For dewy skin, the last thing you want is dry, flaky skin - so making sure that your face is well moisturised will give you the best chance of achieving it. Applying a moisturiser will help to lock in moisture and keep your skin performing at its most efficient - perfect for a healthy, dewy skin glow.

Another way to keep your skin hydrated is by keeping your body hydrated. By this we mean, drink lots of water! Drinking water can help to prevent dry skin, improve skin elasticity and give your skin a healthy glow. To stay hydrated, we recommend drinking between 1.5 and 2 litres of water every day.

What Is Dewy Skin?

What Is Dewy Skin?

The Origin of Dewy Skin

For years we were told that glowing skin looks greasy -  and that mattifying powders and foundations were the way forward to combat oily looking skin. So how did dewy skin and dewy skin products rise to popularity?

Dewy skin originated in South Korea and started to rise in popularity during the early 2000’s, where it was known as ‘Chok Chok’, referring to the moist and glowing finish of the skin. The change from a matte look to a dewy look was inspired by one of South Korea’s top makeup artists, who had the vision to create a more natural aesthetic. Shortly after, the dewy skin look took off, with other makeup artists and consumers hopping on the trend.

With South Korean culture becoming more and more popular in Europe, it was only a matter of time before dewy skin shot to stardom here as well. Now you can find a whole host of products and ranges that create the perfect skincare routine for dewy skin.

Skincare Routine For Dewy Skin

As we mentioned, achieving dewy skin is a process and one that must be maintained. We’ve highlighted some skincare routine for dewy skin tips for your to follow at home.

Exfoliate Twice A Week
Maintaining a consistent exfoliating routine will help in removing dead skin cells and ensure that your skin always has a fresh, dewy skin glow. We don’t recommend exfoliating more often than this, as over-exfoliation can cause damage to your skin.

Moisturise
As with any skincare routine, it's important to moisturise. We recommend moisturising after a shower, to lock in the added moisture. The best times to moisturise are in the morning, to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day, and at night, to keep your skin hydrated as you sleep.

Wear A Daily SPF
Although it may not seem like it, the sun’s UV rays can penetrate through the clouds. This means that, even if the sun isn’t out, it can still cause damage to your skin. Apply a daily moisturiser with an SPF every morning to offer your skin maximum protection. For a selection of SPF day creams, explore our range of day creams.

Apply Toner After Exfoliating
Applying a toner after you exfoliate will ensure that all of the natural oils, that may be stripped while exfoliating, are replenished. This will help to provide your skin with everything that it needs for glowing, dewy skin.
